Design For Change Installation
Invisible Illnesses of Women
This poster triptych was designed to highlight a global issue that I am passionate about sharing with the world. For my poster series, I selected the topic of invisible illnesses in women. I was eager to create a sensory installation involving black light, where I was able to "highlight" or bring to view the three most commonly misdiagnosed illnesses in women.
The white elements of the poster, almost invisible in daylight, were glowing bright when viewed by black light. Women's illnesses are often overlooked or their pain is disregarded. It can take years to get properly diagnosed with some of the illnesses I've highlighted. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), Heart Disease, and Endometriosis can happen to all naturally-born women, regardless of age or race. This project intends to connect with all women who share their illnesses to know they are seen, heard, and not alone.
